In November, 2005 Trumpf Inc., the North American subsidiary of Trumpf GmbH based in Farmington, Connecticut, contacted Managed Air Systems regarding their finishing requirements for a new facility being built in Monterrey, Mexico.  An MAS sales and engineering team worked closely over the next 9 months with both the Farmington group that was providing the initial engineering for the project and, later, with the new Monterrey facility. Plasan Carbon Composites Gets New Paint Line

Plasan Carbon Composites – Bennington, VT

In 2007 Managed Air System designed and installed a complete new paint line at Plasan Carbon Composites of Bennington, VT.  Plasan Carbon Composites is the leading Tier 1 supplier of carbon fiber parts and assemblies in the United States.  They specialize in the production of Class A and structural parts for mid-volume production cars.

The new paint line includes a floor-mounted variable-speed conveyor, a five-stage washer, a dry-off oven, a cure oven, and a down draft spray booth.  Managed Air Systems partnered with Global Finishing Solutions, Eaton Fabricating, and Pacline Conveyors to design and manufacture the various system components. A Canadian Conveyor Supplier Provides a Solution to a US Manufacturer      – Published in, Coatings Magazine, April 2008

Plasan Carbon Composites had a problem. Located in small-town Bennington, VT, Plasan designs and produces’ OEM body parts for vehicles. The firm is well known for its use of carbon fiber as a building material.

Plasan (originally called Vermont Composites Inc) was sending off a carbon-fiber fender for a General Motors Z06 Corvette to an outside custom coater to be primed. The custom coater was not doing a very good job, however. The vendor was inefficient, operating in decidedly low-tech fashion: “They were literally pushing these parts around on carts on the floor,” recalls Bob Davis, corporate paint engineer at Plasan USA. Ovation Instruments Gets New Industrial Spray Booths

Ovation Instruments was formed when, in the early sixties Charlie Kaman saw a need to diversify his aviation company into other markets.  As a longtime guitarist he understood the needs of players, and his extensive helicopter blade experience gave him a better understanding of vibration than any other guitar maker.  So, in 1964 he chose a small team of aerospace engineers and technicians for the project.  They discovered that the flat back of the acoustic guitar actually hindered the balance and projection.  Consequently, they developed the roundback, which improved projection, gave the guitar a better balance from bass through treble, and made for a stronger and more rugged instrument. NYCTA Grand Ave. Depot & Central Maintenance Facility Get Environmental Spray Booths

In 2003-2004 the NYCT Grand Ave Depot & Central Maintenance Facility was ranked #13 in the country for largest construction projects awarded, with a cost over $250 million.

This bus facility, built in Queens for New York City Transit, is far more than a big parking space.  The Grand Avenue Bus Depot and Maintenance Facility in Maspeth is located on 5.5 acres and covers over 550,000 sq. ft.  It is a state-of-the-art and environmentally sound facility. Continue reading

CTTA – Capital Bus New Paint Shop For Repairing and Refinishing Buses

New Haven Bus Maintenance and Storage Facility

Construction of a new, New Haven Bus Facility in Hamden began the week of July 14, 2008.  The $70 million project consists of a new bus maintenance and storage facility for CT Transit vehicles that service the New Haven area.  The new facility is being built on property at the corner of State Street and Edmund Street in Hamden.  Edmund Street will also be rebuilt under this project.  Work is scheduled to be completed by July 13, 2010. ADESA Corporation Gets a New Automotive Spray Booth

ADESA Corporation entered the vehicle redistribution industry in 1989.  It now has over 60 facilities throughout North America, including state-of-the-art facilities in most major markets.  They offer a range of reconditioning services from detailing to light mechanical work and dent repair.  ADESA employs nearly 11,000 people.  More than 8,700 of these employees are located in the United States and Mexico, with the remaining located in Canada.  About 380 employees work at the headquarters in Carmel, Indiana. Hoffman Auto Group Gets a New Automotive Spray Booth

Hoffman Auto Group, a family-owned business established in 1921, has locations in East Hartford and Avon/Canton CT.  The business represents 11 domestic and foreign automotive lines and operates two body shops.  In October, 2007 Hoffman Auto Group kicked off “Project HX,” a plan to renovate their existing dealerships and to construct several new facilities.  On completion of the project, Hoffman Auto Group will have 212,000 square feet of retail space for sales, service, parts and auto body work.
